Today we're proud to announce that Calgee is officially Climate Neutral Certified. The journey to achieve Climate Neutral Certification was a time-intensive undertaking spanning several months, where we strived to calculate, minimize, and offset our brand's carbon emissions. These are measures that every corporation and individuals can feasibly adopt and are crucially required to mitigate the surge in carbon emissions effectively.
We're thrilled to join hundreds of Climate Neutral Certified brands in taking meaningful climate action today.
How did we get here?
We collaborated with the Climate Neutral team to measure our brand's 2022 carbon footprint, set time-bound Reduction Action Plans, and compensate for our annual emissions by investing in carbon offset projects that met Climate Neutral's rigorous Standards. Certifying brands collectively dedicated thousands of hours to understanding and addressing their climate impacts during the certification process.
Each organization spent every hour working to achieve the same uniform Standard. This included:
Measure
We measured our 2022 carbon footprint at 92 tonnes. To arrive at this number, we looked at all of the brand-level emissions created from making and delivering our products/services, including our supply chain emissions, business travel, and utility bills.
Reduce
We then identified emissions hotspots and created time-bound Reduction Action Plans to lower our emissions over the next 12-24 months.
- Implement a low carbon sourcing/purchasing policy to only source PCR or 100% recyclable materials across all consumer packaging.
- Transition plastic to carbon-negative, plant-based plastic packaging across all product bottles.
Compensate
Finally, we offset these annual emissions by investing in verified carbon credits that met Climate Neutral's rigorous Standard. These carbon credits supported a portfolio of projects, including Wind and Industrial.
Additional detail about our certification efforts may be found in Climate Neutral's profile directory.
What does it mean to be Climate Neutral Certified?
Starting today, our products will bear the Climate Neutral Certified label. This label represents the trusted, independent Standard for climate neutrality and empowers consumers to find brands that are leading on immediate climate action. "Consumers hold incredible power to shape the economy, and their power is exerted through the actions of the brands they support," said Austin Whitman, CEO of Climate Neutral. "With our climate label, we're helping consumers find companies that are taking action today and immediately investing in climate solutions."
All companies that get certified must reduce and compensate for all of their emissions from making and delivering products and services. Climate Neutral works with over 400 companies; their label can be found on millions of products worldwide. Watch for the Climate Neutral Certified label next time you consider a new product.
